The Social Justice Committee Needs You!
The social justice committee works on issues of Equality, Accessibility, Dignity, and Human Rights. We are currently seeking membership for those interested in working on any of the following areas:

Social Justice Committee Information
The activites of the committee are as follows:

Monthly teleconferences with the committee to report in and share any issues that may present themselves

Assisting with keeping track of what is happening in the way of social justice activities across US universities to promote idea sharing

Assisting with the development of white papers, lobbying leave-behind materials, and resolutions for current and future issues

Working with the NAGPS Regional Chairs to help jumpstart advocacy efforts at NAGPS member universities

Social Justice Committee Chair Duties:

Monitor and voice concerns from both, members and non-members, to the Board of Directors.

Collect suggestions or preferences from members/non-members and reply with comments or feedback.

The Social Justice Chair must keep the NAGPS' President updated about all progress with the committee.

The Social Justice Chair must keep a continuous channel of communication open between members and the Board of Directors.

The Social Justice Chair will preside all diversity committee meetings at both national and regional conferences.

The Social Justice Chair must follow the committee's mission and purpose and make sure that he/she is representing the interests of those who are
being represented.
Social Justice Committee Member Duties:
-
Identify a graduate student leader on campus or a staff member who is very supportive of diversity initiatives.

Brainstorm ideas (regarding diversity issues) with fellow graduate students and academic advisors.

Support the Social Justice Chair in the formulation of resolutions, support of legislative bills, and in the process of creating awareness and acceptance of different ideas or points of view at the local, regional, and national levels.
