Employment Concerns

Summary: The Employment Concerns Committee is composed of graduate students across the country who are interested in improving post-graduation employment career opportunities for students by (1) analyzing the role universities play in fostering career growth and (2) understanding trends in graduate student stipends and benefits.

This year we implemented the NAGPS Career Center Survey. The purpose of the survey is to understand best practices among university career centers and compile the results into a guidance document. In the future, we hope to implement a case study analyzing economic benefits including stipends, health, dental, and vision insurance benefits from a public and private university.

About the Employee Concerns Committee Chair

Vijay Gadepally

Vijay Gadepally is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University. His research area focuses on autonomous vehicles, and statistical modeling of driver behavior. Vijay is also interested in the Public Policy aspects of autonomous vehicles. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. Additionally, he is the President of the Council of Graduate Students. As president, Vijay is responsible for directing the activities of Ohio State’s 12,000 graduate student’s government.  Vijay has held a number of leadership and academic positions across the Ohio State University.

Born in Allentown, PA, Vijay has lived in San Jose, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Austin, TX; Albany, NY; Columbus, OH; Kanpur, India; Bombay, India; and Hyderabad, India. He enjoys travelling greatly, and looks forward to his next trip.
