Developmental Goals

NAGPS Standing Policy on Development Goals and Objectives

Approved: August 12, 1997 

  1. GENERATE OPERATING SUPPORT through corporate partnerships, INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATION membership REVENUES, foundation AND OTHER grants, AND member service support.
  2. GENERATE SPECIAL PROJECT FUNDING FOR PROJECTS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD AND/OR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (e.g., journal, legislative activities, conferences).
  3. PROVIDE LIMITED STAFF SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBER FUNDRAISING. The board needs to be trained, encouraged, and armed with information to solicit funds.
  4. PROVIDE LIMITED STAFF SUPPORT to local groups who are trying to raise funds.
  5. DEVELOP A RESOURCE DATABANK OF PROSPECTIVE FUNDERS INCLUDING FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS, University administrators, "friends," and other useful people and organizations.
  6. MAINTAIN INFORMATION ON PROSPECTIVE AND ACTUAL FUNDERS to HELP IN preventing conflicts and to more effectively support the organization.
  7. RECOMMEND INVESTMENT STRATEGIES FOR FUNDS GENERATED THROUGH DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER ACTIVITIES.
  8. THE DEVELOPMENT POSITION WILL REPORT TO THE NAGPS BOARD AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.
  9. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED the position should GENERATE FUNDS BY THE 1998-99 ACADEMIC YEAR TO COVER ITS EXPENSES PLUS RAISE ADDITIONAL FUNDS.
