Northeast Regional Conference

Date

Fri, 04/23/2010 - Sun, 04/25/2010

Event Description

The 2010 Northeast Regional Conference will be jointly hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, April 23-25.  The regional conference will be a great opportunity to hear best practices from other universities, collaborate and network with like-minded graduate students interested in the advancement of graduate student issues, and experience first-hand some of the great social events that Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh put on for their graduate students.

The conference will begin Friday night with registration and dinner (on your own), followed by a presentation by Jorge Cham, from PhD Comics.  Following Jorge's talk, we'll be guests at the University of Pittsburgh year-end picnic, which will serve as our Welcome Reception.  Saturday gets underway bright and early so that you can attend one of the many presentations and collaboration sessions centered around graduate student government issues (detailed agenda to follow), and following dinner we will attend Carnegie Mellon University's annual Wine Tasting event at PPG Aquarium.  Sunday morning we'll begin with a Pancakes and Politics session focused on political issues, leading into two more presentation sessions when our business meeting will be running concurrently.  Finally, we'll wrap things up with lunch and we'll all be ready to get back to campus with tons of new ideas and contacts.

This year's regional conference promises to be a great event, and at just $35 to attend, a great value as well!  We hope that we'll see you in Pittsburgh in April - if you have any questions about the conference, please feel free to contact Jon Kowalski, the Director of Regional Conference.
