Eligible graduate and professional students may request individual travel grants (submission form) to defray the costs associated with the national conference. Students may request up to $300 or half of their total travel expense, whichever is less. Conference registration fees, transportation (by the most economical means available) and lodging (excluding meals) may all be included when calculating total travel expense. The NAGPS travel grant should be a last resort for funding; the student is expected to have attempted to secure funding from other sources before submitting a NAGPS travel grant application. Grant funds are distributed through a reimbursement process and require submission of original receipts to the NAGPS grant committee.
Submissions due by 5:00PM ET on Sunday, October 16, 2011.
Any full-time graduate or professional student who is coming to the NAGPS national conference is eligible to apply for the NAGPS travel grant. Candidates must:
Eligibility will also be determined based on the applicant’s access to other funding sources. Preference will be given to students whose graduate groups actively participate in NAGPS meetings and events as well as to those individuals who have not been granted a GPSO (similar graduate-professional student organization) travel grant in the past. The travel grant application can be accessed here.
To apply, individuals must submit a complete Travel Grant Application, found on the NAGPS web site, before the application period deadline. Check the NAGPS website for current application deadlines. Students must save all original receipts to ensure reimbursement in the event that their request is funded. Early applications, for conferences in future application periods are occasionally reviewed, however they are given low priority and may be waitlisted.
All travel grants are reviewed by a Travel Grant Committee, chaired by a current NAGPS Director and comprised of other NAGPS representatives. Applicants will be contacted regardless of the final decision.
You will need to submit the following to receive reimbursement
Incomplete applications CANNOT be processed. Please do not turn in an application without all supporting documents.
