Advocacy
Members of Congress consult NAGPS regularly. We actively work to preserve and expand federal student aid and other governmental programs and policies that benefit graduate and professional students.
NAGPS sponsors Lobby Day each February. Briefing materials are prepared for all attendees, meetings scheduled with the offices of their home state Representatives and Senators and a reception on Capitol Hill is held to talk informally with Congressional Staff and members of the higher education community. Because of the geographic range of NAGPS members, we are able to raise NAGPS' visibility on a national scale.
Discounts
Discounts
Through collective bargaining NAGPS is able to secure discounts and services to our members. This includes discounts on health and auto insurance, periodicals, research resources, travel services, among others.
Awareness
NAGPS media relations have improved the image of graduate students throughout the United States, via mainstream and campus media. Each April, NAGPS sponsors Graduate & Professional Student Appreciation Week in cooperation with sister organizations in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
